Jamaica: new-feature policy supplement

Version JM-2026-10-07 · Added 7 October 2026 · Jamaica operations only

Legal-review notice: these rules distinguish platform policy from legal and carrier requirements. They are not an exhaustive statement of law, proof of regulatory approval or certification of compliance. The operator must obtain Jamaican legal review before relying on them as final contractual terms. Current law and non-excludable consumer rights take priority over inconsistent earlier wording.

Ride-share and road transport

Jamaica ride-share licensing and insurance

Paid passenger transport must meet the Transport Authority requirements for the actual licence category and permitted operation, together with applicable road traffic and motor insurance requirements. An ordinary private-car licence or approval inside this app is not authority to carry passengers for hire or reward. Drivers must keep the appropriate road licence, driver licence, vehicle registration, fitness certificate, identification and insurance covering paid passenger use current. Route, seating, identification, marking and operating restrictions depend on the licence category. Obtain the Authority’s confirmation of the appropriate category before operating; do not assume every taxi category permits app-dispatched rides.

Driver and passenger safety (platform rules)

Confirm the driver, vehicle and registration plate against the booking before boarding. Share the pickup verification code only with the correct driver. Everyone must use the required seat belts or appropriate child restraints; do not exceed the vehicle’s licensed passenger capacity. Bookers must be adults; minors may travel only with a responsible adult under this platform rule. No intoxicated driving, harassment, discrimination, violence, weapons, unsafe stopping or phone handling while driving. Request accessibility assistance in advance; never promise an accessible vehicle unless confirmed. Drivers must stop work when documents expire, insurance lapses, a vehicle becomes unsafe or their authorisation is withdrawn.

Fares, stops, waiting and cancellations

Review the displayed JMD estimate, payment method, pickup, stops, passenger count and any demand adjustment before confirming. App pricing does not authorise a fare prohibited by Transport Authority rules or an applicable approved tariff. Operators must verify lawful pricing for their category. Changes to route, waiting, tolls, cleaning, cancellation or no-show charges require a disclosed basis and evidence; do not demand invented or undisclosed charges. Scheduling and arrival times are estimates, not guaranteed acceptance or arrival. Use the app’s supported changes and cancellation tools, keep receipts and raise disputed charges through Support.

Emergencies, tracking and lost property

For immediate danger in Jamaica call Police 119 or Fire/Ambulance 110. An app SOS alert or support message is not a call to emergency services and does not guarantee dispatch, monitoring or response. Move to safety where possible and provide your location to responders. Share a trip link only with trusted people: anyone receiving a usable link may see trip information while it remains valid. Report safety incidents or lost property through Support, preserve trip details and do not confront another user.

Inter-parish parcels and hub collection

Inter-parish pilot: responsibilities and handoffs

Inter-parish shipments are within Jamaica only. The current manual pilot records a separately arranged sale: the seller drops the parcel at the carrier and the customer collects it at the agreed destination hub. A record in this app is not a carrier booking, automatic tracking, insurance or a guaranteed final-mile delivery. Any separately offered final-mile service must be explicitly agreed and priced. Confirm the origin, destination hub, service availability, recipient details and collection requirements directly with the carrier. Sellers retain handover receipts and must enter truthful status updates and tracking references; only mark collected after evidence of collection.

Contents, packaging and carrier eligibility

Declare contents accurately and package them securely; never conceal dangerous or illegal goods. Knutsford Express publishes prohibitions including cash and payment cards, illegal drugs, firearms and weapons including replicas, knives, animals, human remains, counterfeit goods and hazardous materials. Dangerous goods include aerosols, combustible substances and lithium batteries, including those in devices. Medicines, alcohol, perishables and valuables may be restricted or subject to additional conditions. This is not an exhaustive list: consult current carrier rules before each shipment and obtain explicit acceptance for restricted contents. Do not send temperature-sensitive food without an agreed suitable service. Carrier conditions are contractual restrictions, not a statement that every listed item is illegal.

Charges, collection and parcel disputes

Agree product price, actual or estimated shipping, collection arrangements and any separately arranged delivery charge before handover. Preserve receipts; obtain the customer’s agreement before adding changed charges. Storage, return or failed-collection charges apply only when the relevant carrier terms and charges have been disclosed and lawfully apply; this app does not set a universal deadline or fee. Check collection ID and authorisation requirements with the carrier. Report loss, damage, incorrect contents or non-delivery promptly with the order reference, photos and carrier receipt. Carrier claim procedures do not remove statutory rights against a responsible seller or platform.

Delivery partner authorisation

Paid carriage of goods may require the relevant Transport Authority public carrier authorisation and insurance suitable for the use. The Authority distinguishes public carriers carrying goods for hire or reward from private carriers carrying goods connected with the owner’s business. Verify the category and requirements for the actual vehicle and service before starting work; a delivery account alone is not a road licence.

Sponsored videos and Food Clips

Sponsor videos, food clips and music permissions

Publish only content you own or have permission to use commercially in this app. Obtain the necessary rights for footage, photographs, logos, music compositions and sound recordings; permission for a song on another social platform does not automatically cover this app, an advertisement or synchronisation with video. Keep licences and releases from identifiable people, and appropriate parent or guardian permission for children. Uploaders retain ownership and grant the platform permission to host, display and technically adapt their submitted content for its agreed app placement, only to the extent they can lawfully grant those rights. AI generation does not remove copyright, trademark, consent or accuracy obligations.

Advertising disclosure and truthful food promotions

Paid placements must be identifiable as Sponsored or advertising, and AI-generated promotional footage must not pretend to be a real customer endorsement or an actual dish when it is not. Do not make misleading price, availability, health, safety or performance claims. Show material conditions for an offer and keep menu-linked clips consistent with the item actually sold. A video does not replace ingredient, allergen, price or availability information; customers should confirm allergy requirements with the vendor. No fabricated reviews, illegal or unsafe promotions, abusive material, exploitation, or disclosure of someone’s private details. These disclosure and content controls are platform rules supporting consumer protection, not a claim that every label is prescribed verbatim by legislation.

Moderation, complaints and ad integrity

Use Support to report a clip or advertisement, identifying its title, vendor, placement and the reason. Copyright complainants should identify the protected work, the disputed content and their authority to act; do not publish private evidence in public comments. Administrators may restrict content during review and should give affected uploaders a reason and an opportunity to request human review. Repeated or serious violations can lead to removal or account restrictions. Do not manipulate impressions or clicks, click your own ads for revenue or mislead people into clicking. Third-party ads also remain subject to the advertising provider’s policies; no revenue, reward or discount is guaranteed.

Privacy, location and AI assistance

New-feature personal data and purposes

Ride-share uses pickup, stops, destinations, trip events, passenger and driver contact details, live location where enabled, chats, ratings, verification information and incident reports for matching, fulfilment, safety and disputes. Inter-parish records use sender and recipient details, hub information, parcel descriptions, tracking references and receipts for shipment administration and support. Submitted videos may contain identifiable people. Ad-event records may be used to measure impressions and clicks. Optional location permission or marketing consent must not authorise unrelated uses. Do not upload unnecessary identity documents, medical details or payment-card information into chats, videos or receipts.

Visibility, storage and third-party services

Relevant drivers, vendors, recipients, authorised operations/support staff and service providers receive information needed for the particular task, not unrestricted access to every record. Share-trip links can expose trip details to their holders. Storage depends on the feature: sponsor video and poster uploads currently use public URLs, while menu clips, shipment receipts and newly signed agreements use private storage with temporary access links where supported. Private storage does not prevent an authorised viewer copying content or guarantee every record is properly restricted. Maps, payment, location, hosting and third-party advertising services may process device, transaction or location-related information; enabling third-party advertising requires review of its data practices and any required notice or consent.

Jamaican data rights and operator obligations

The Data Protection Act, 2020 requires fair and lawful processing, specified purposes, minimisation, accuracy, necessary retention, respect for data-subject rights, appropriate security and lawful overseas transfers. A Jamaica-only service may still use overseas hosting or processors; assess transfer safeguards rather than assuming data stays in Jamaica. Ask through Support to access or correct personal data, object where the Act permits, stop direct marketing, or request deletion subject to lawful retention duties; complaints may also be raised with the Office of the Information Commissioner. Operators must establish and disclose category-specific retention periods, maintain processor arrangements, assess controller registration and data protection officer requirements, and handle breaches under applicable law. This supplement does not certify those operational steps as completed.

AI assistance and human decisions

AI-assisted operations may summarise records or suggest actions. Outputs can be incomplete or inaccurate and are not legal advice, evidence of eligibility, or a substitute for human review. Authorised administrators must check source records and permissions before confirming consequential actions such as suspensions, refunds, compliance decisions or shipment changes. Do not paste unrelated sensitive information into prompts. Offer human review of disputed consequential decisions and honour applicable rights relating to automated decisions.

Payments, refunds and consumer rights

Ride-share payments and refunds

Food-order cancellation windows do not automatically apply to rides. Review any disclosed ride cancellation/no-show terms before booking; challenge a charge if the driver did not arrive, the trip was not provided, a safety issue occurred or the amount is incorrect. Card authorisation may temporarily reserve funds and is not itself a final charge; bank release and refund posting times vary. Refunds and adjustments depend on the facts and applicable rights, not an automatic promise for every cancelled ride. Keep the ride reference and receipt. Never pay a second time solely because a card hold remains visible.

Inter-parish sales and carrier claims

Assess the product sale, carrier shipping charge and any separately arranged final-mile charge separately. A carrier handover does not mean the buyer has received the goods. For defects, missing items, loss, damage or failed delivery, contact Support and the responsible seller/carrier promptly, retain packaging and provide available evidence. Changed-mind returns and disclosed return costs are distinct from remedies for defective or misdescribed goods. Do not assume carrier insurance, a fixed payout, a mandatory 24-hour claim limit or a blanket non-refundable shipping fee. Check current carrier terms; statutory remedies take priority.

Advertising disputes and statutory protection

An ad impression or a food clip is not a purchase or a guarantee of product availability. Purchased goods and services remain subject to their applicable refund terms and Jamaican consumer rights. Sponsor payment or campaign disputes require the actual agreed campaign terms and delivery records; no undocumented refund or performance guarantee is implied. The Consumer Protection Act prohibits misleading practices and preserves remedies in applicable circumstances. Nothing in these policies removes statutory rights or excludes liability where Jamaican law does not permit it, including prohibited exclusions for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Earlier general disclaimers, liability caps or short reporting windows must be read subject to this protection.
